What pedal drive systems are compatible with the Shearwater?
The Vibe X-Drive Pedal Kit was designed specifically for the Shearwater 125. However, the Hobie Mirage V1, V2, 180 will also fit as long as you use the X-Drive Pod.
What is the warranty on the X-Drive Pedal Kit and other parts of the Shearwater?
The Shearwater hull has a limited lifetime manufacture defect warranty. The X-Drive Pedal Kit has a 5-year manufacture defect warranty. All other parts on the kayak have a one-year manufacturer defect warranty.
Does the Shearwater come Power Pole ready?
Yes, it does!
Does the 20qt cooler fit in the rear tankwell of the Shearwater?
Yes, most 20 quart coolers will fit in the rear tankwell.
Will the Lowrance 3-in-1 transducer fit in the transducer port on the Shearwater?
Yes, it will!
What are the interior dimensions of the depth finder pod on the Shearwater?
L 8 ¼, W 3 ½, D 6 1/2
Can you install the Boonedox landing gear on the Shearwater?
No we do not recommend it. There's currently not a kit available that is compatible with the Shearwater. Using it may void your warranty.
What is the measurement of deck access for the battery box on the Shearwater?
5⅝ X 7 ¼
What comes with the base package for the Shearwater?
The base Shearwater package comes with the Summit Seat, the Gravity Rudder, the Electronics Pod, FreeFlow pedals, and the Versa Pod.
What is the depth of the Shearwater?
11 inches!
Where do I mount the Bixpy battery on the Shearwater?
We recommend mounting it in the rear tank-well. It will also fit in the tackle box holder.
How big are the tackle box holders behind the seat in the Shearwater?
12” x 4.25” inches. Each slot holds (2) 3600 size tackle trays for a total of 4 tackle trays.
What is the difference between the versa pod and the base pod?
The Base Pod is a padded surface with no storage designed for maximizing open deck space. The Versa Pod adds extra dry storage and includes a magnetic tackle holder and bungee tool storage.
Can you stand on the Shearwater's base pod?
Yes, the base pod is flush with the kayak providing more usable deck space! The weight limit is 250 lbs.
